The Calgary Gay History Project is pleased to announce that it received an honourable mention in the 2015 Governor General’s History Awards for Excellence in Community Programming. Our very own, Tereasa Maillie, will be representing us at Rideau Hall this October at the GG’s award ceremony. We gratefully thank our nominators, the judges and Canada’s History Society for the honour.
Tereasa has been volunteering the the Project almost since its inception. She has written engaging articles and done several public presentations about our research findings throughout the city. She has her own history blog as well, HistoryMinion, and I encourage you to check it out!
We also hope you will check out our various programming during Pride Week:
Thursday, September 3rd from 7:00 – 8:30, the Beltline Gay History Walk
Friday, September 4th from 5:00 – 7:00, Origins: Pride Calgary History Panel
Saturday, September 5th from 2:00 – 3:30, the Downtown Gay History Walk
Sunday, September 6th from noon – 6:00 PM, our Pride Festival Booth
Hope to see you out!
